ISM Code Compliance Service – Safety & Quality System

NMS SHIP MANAGEMENT has own approved Safety Management System, that will be custom tailored to your vessel’s needs, developed in conjunction with vessel’s specific operation and manning, that takes into account all relevant international and national legislation.

NMS SHIP MANAGEMENT is ISM certified on behalf of Cameroon Flag with a Document of Compliance issued by Recognized Organization duly approved.  

The main scope of service provided for compliance with ISM Code, are as follows:

  • Designated Person Ashore functions
  • Develop and implement specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Develop and implement specific Contingency Plans (CP)
  • Develop vessel’s specific Safety Management System (SMS), incorporating the SOPs and CPs
  • Implementing the SMS on board and briefing to crew on the system
  • Liaison with Flag State for ISM Interim and Initial Audits towards certification with Safety Management Certificate (SMC)
  • Attend external audits by Recognized Organization, Flag State, and other Authorities, as needed
  • Carry out Internal Audits, issue Audit Report and monitor corrective action
  • Carry out periodic reviews of the SMS and revise SMS documentation.
  • Implement training programs as required
  • Monitor drills and exercises in accordance with SMS provisions.
ISPS Code Compliance Service – Company Security Officer

NMS SHIP MANAGEMENT will produce a ship specific Ship Security Assessment and develop a fully compliant Ship Security Plan.  We will continue to assist throughout the process and oversee any actions necessary until full ISPS compliance has been achieved.

In addition to the above, we will ensure that documentation is coordinated to sit within your existing Integrated Management System, and where necessary, develop and provide a programme of training to the crew. Where applicable we will also give independent advice and assistance with procurement and maintenance of vessel’s security equipment.

We are undertaking to plan and provide external monitoring of all security drills and exercises required under ISPS Code.  Management of Security Records will be done consistently with ISPS Code and International Requirements of different ports of call of the vessel.

The main scope of service provided for compliance with ISPS Code, are as follows:

  • Company Security Officer (CSO) functions
  • Review existing security arrangements
  • Ship’s security assessment including On -scene security survey
  • Develop and implement specific security Contingency Plans (CPs)
  • Ship’s Security Plan (SSP) preparation, submission and approval from Flag State or review
  • Implementing the SSP on board and crew familiarization
  • Liaison with Flag State for ISPS Interim and Initial Audits towards certification with Interim International Ship Security Certificate (ISSC)
  • Attend external audits by Recognized Organization, Flag State, and other Authorities, as needed
  • Carry out initial Internal Audit, issue Audit Report and monitor corrective action
  • Carry out periodic reviews of the SSP and review security documentarian
  • Carry out Risk Assessments as needed with changes in operation or location
  • Monitor drills and exercises in accordance with SSP provisions

All NMS SHIP MANAGEMENT Consultants are experienced and fully qualified ISPS Auditors, have excellent working relationships with Cameroon Flag Administration.

Technical Management

An essential requirement of the ISM System is the Planned Maintenance System. Technical Management includes planned maintenance and purchasing of spares properly documented with purchase orders and/or repair orders. It is very important to document a proper communication trail between a vessel and the office with follow-up on delivery of parts, back-orders, completion of repairs, etc. This is an essential part of Technical Management and it is important to demonstrate proper Planned Maintenance under the ISM System.

NMS SHIP MANAGEMENT’s Technical Superintendents, all with sea-going experience, as Chief Engineers will ensure that your vessel receives the technical support and supervision it requires under the ISM Code in close communication and cooperation with your existing shore Staff.

NMS SHIP MANAGEMENT will evaluate and assist during the obtaining of the Protection and Indemnity (P & I) Insurance and Hull and Machinery (H & M) Insurance for the vessel operation.

Crew Management

At NMS SHIP MANAGEMENT, we understand that crew management is one of the most important factors in running the vessels we manage and we are fully aware that safeguarding these vessels’ and their owners’ interests requires the highly efficient utilization of the crew. The onboard crew is at the forefront of all activities and the key to a vessel’s safe and smooth day-to-day operation.  NMS SHIP MANAGEMENT has access to a large pool of experienced and qualified ship officers and crew and can offer an owner a crew management package designed to relieve the owner of any workload with the manning of vessels. This includes:

  • Crew recruitment and procedures for joining ship and repatriating crew if needed
  • Payment of wages and leave with overtime and service bonuses of officers and crew
  • Medical examinations and fitness certificates
  • Implementation and follow-up of drug and alcohol policies
  • Crew P&I insurance as well as handling of respective claims
  • Proper training and certification of crew

PURCHASING

NMS SHIP MANAGEMENT has substantial “buying power” through the economy of scale for the fleet under management. This can add up to sizeable savings for consumables, spare parts, equipment and related services, including dry-docking and repairs afloat. NMS SHIP MANAGEMENT realize that you have your existing Client-Vendor relationship and again NMS SHIP MANAGEMENT will communicate and work closely with your shore Staff and existing Vendors. Procurement of spares and the documentation flow is an important part of the Planned Maintenance System and as such a requirement under the ISM.

NMS SHIP MANAGEMENT has obtained very competitive fleet insurance for its vessels under management, which has yielded substantial savings for our Principals. In addition, claims are handled quickly and with great expertise. Some owners have a close relationship with existing insurance broker and we are looking forward to working with him direct if you so prefer.

Vessel Operations

We, at NMS SHIP MANAGEMENT work with Owners towards maximizing efficiency in operating managed vessels. We undertake port operations appointing port agents, berth arrangements, schedule ship services and contractors, deliveries of bunkers, lubricants.

expenses incurred, would be invoiced at cost against proof of receipt.  Visits to your Vessel will be arranged in coordination with your Company.
